What Is the Highest Point on Mount Kilimanjaro?
Uhuru Peak is the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. It sits on the dormant Kibo cone at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level.
Kilimanjaro has three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira. Tanzania National Parks records that the summit name changed from Kaiser Wilhelm’s Peak to Uhuru Peak at Tanganyika’s independence in 1961. “Uhuru” means “freedom” in Swahili.
How High Is Kilimanjaro?
Kilimanjaro is 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level at Uhuru Peak. This is the widely accepted summit altitude used in modern mapping and mountain references.
