Your adventure to experience Kilimanjaro by the Lemosho Route begins the moment you step foot at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Welcomed by a member of the LHO team, you’ll be whisked away in our private shuttle to the hotel, where your LHO Team Leader awaits to ensure a smooth check-in process. Once settled, your gear will be meticulously checked to ensure you’re fully prepared for the journey ahead.

If you arrive early, take the opportunity to explore the vibrant town of Moshi, where the scent of coffee permeates the air. The Union Coffee Shop is a must-visit for enthusiasts seeking a taste of local delights. Your LHO Team Leader will provide additional recommendations closer to your trip date.

Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

After a hearty breakfast and hotel checkout, we embark on our first day of trekking. A scenic two-hour drive takes us to the Londorossi gate, where we complete check-in procedures for Kilimanjaro Park amidst the lush rainforest backdrop. As we prepare for the hike ahead, a hot lunch is served at the gate.

The trail leads us through the enchanting rainforest, teeming with wildlife and vibrant flora. With varying terrain, our LHO team ensures a comfortable pace, culminating in our arrival at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750 m) as the sun sets. Here, campsite etiquette is briefed before we enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Leaving the rainforest behind, we ascend into the alpine vegetation zone on our second day. Amidst individual health checks and scenic vistas, the landscape gradually transitions to reveal panoramic views of the summit crater and beyond. Our journey culminates at Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m), where a hot lunch and stunning sunset views await.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

As we traverse the Shira plateau, the third crater of Kilimanjaro, the landscape unfolds in all its grandeur. Snow-capped peaks and vast Savannah regions come into view as we trek to Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m). Here, amidst breathtaking vistas, we rest, recharge, and savor the camaraderie of our fellow trekkers.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

Ascending to nearly 4,600 meters, we experience our first taste of high altitude en route to Lava Tower. Opting for the high route to Barranco allows for efficient acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp (3,900 m). Amidst striking rock formations and unique flora, we enjoy a well-deserved dinner and rest.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Navigating the iconic Barranco Wall, we ascend to Karanga Camp (4,550 m), our last stop before the summit push. Short yet thrilling, the day’s trek offers panoramic views and ample photo opportunities. Resting at Karanga is crucial for restoring strength and readiness for the final ascent.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

With the summit ridge in sight, we trek to Barafu Camp (4,600 m), our launchpad for the summit push. Focused and determined, we approach this day with a steady pace, ensuring ample rest and preparation for the challenge ahead.

Day 7: Summit Day to Uhuru Peak, then Descend to Mweika Camp

In the darkness of night, we begin our ascent to the summit, navigating rocky terrain and steep inclines. As dawn breaks, the summit of Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) comes into view, a testament to our resilience and determination. After summit photos and moments of reflection, we descend to Mweika Camp, where rest and celebration await.

Day 8: Descent to Mweika Gate, Farewell Dinner

Descending through the familiar rainforest, we arrive at Mweika Gate, where a farewell party awaits, celebrating our shared accomplishments. Expressing gratitude to our dedicated team, we bid farewell before returning to the hotel for a well-deserved shower and rest.

Day 9: Departure Day

The journey concludes with airport transfers, ensuring a seamless transition back home. Reflecting on the transformative journey shared, we carry memories of camaraderie and triumph as we bid farewell to Kilimanjaro’s majestic heights. Until we meet again, safe travels and may the spirit of adventure continue to inspire and uplift.
