In this short excerpt from his Life Happens Outdoors interview, Hari Budha Magar reflects on war, suffering and the humanity we all share. After losing both legs in war, Hari speaks not with bitterness, but with a message of connection. Beneath nationality, background and circumstance, he reminds us that we are one people, one heart, one humanity, one flesh and one blood.

One people, one heart

Hari’s message does not ignore suffering or pretend that conflict leaves no scars. It asks a more difficult question: what do we choose to let suffering create?

For Hari, pain does not have to produce greater division. It can deepen empathy, create purpose and strengthen our responsibility to bring people together. His experience has given him every reason to focus on what separates us, yet he continues to speak about everything we share.

A message that reaches beyond the mountains

Rami Rasamny’s wider conversation with Hari explores Aconcagua, adaptive climbing and his journey through the Seven Summits. Yet this particular moment reaches far beyond mountaineering.

It reflects something often experienced through adventure. Shared challenge can strip away titles, labels and assumptions. What remains is the understanding that we depend on one another, that courage is rarely individual and that our common humanity is greater than the forces trying to divide us.

This belief sits at the heart of Life Happens Outdoors. Adventure can challenge us physically, but its deeper value is often found in the perspective, humility and human connection we carry home.
