When is the Best Time to Climb Kilimanjaro?
Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania continues to captivate adventurers, but its climbing seasons are undergoing changes attributed to climate change. Traditionally, the preferred climbing windows were January to March and June to October, characterized by clearer skies and minimal rainfall. However, recent shifts in weather patterns indicate that the rainy seasons now tend to commence earlier, around March, and conclude by December.
This evolving climate pattern introduces a degree of unpredictability for climbers. The transitional months, previously considered more lenient, may now present sporadic rainfall. It’s also important to be aware that due to Kilimanjaro’s micro-climate, there is hardly a full week on the mountain that goes by without any rain at all even during the dry seasons. Nevertheless, with informed planning and adaptability, trekkers can still relish the unique experience that Kilimanjaro offers.
As we navigate these changes, it underscores the importance of sustainable trekking practices and a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of our natural world. LHO Kilimanjaro Climbs are set during the time periods that are least likely to be affected by the shifting patters of the rainy season.
