Solo Adventure Holidays

You can join an LHO adventure without bringing a travel companion. Choose a guided journey that fits your experience, preparation time and idea of a meaningful challenge, then meet the group through the shared trip. You still have your own reasons for going and your own questions to ask.

Start with the walking or climbing you want to do, rather than treating “solo” as a difficulty level. The first-adventure guide helps you compare your starting point with the trip requirements.

Why solo adventure holidays feel different with the right support

Start with the walking or climbing you want to do and check the itinerary’s requirements. Guided travel provides a shared plan and professional support; each participant still brings their own experience, preparation and reasons for going.

What to expect when you arrive

Most solo travellers worry about the first day. Will I fit in? Will everyone already know each other? Will it feel awkward?

Start with the arrival plan

Check the arrival instructions and first meeting for your chosen departure. The itinerary and briefing give the group a shared starting point, while the guide and support team explain how the journey works. Ask in advance about anything that would make arrival easier for you.

You can enjoy company without needing to talk all day. Group personalities vary, and no particular age mix, friendship or relationship is promised. Read what to expect from a group adventure for the practical questions behind the idea of community.

What Team Led Support Means at Life Happens Outdoors

Professional guides lead the technical and location specific elements. Life Happens Outdoors Team Leaders support the human experience through communication, group rhythm, check ins, and care.

This leadership structure matters most when conditions change, when someone feels nervous, or when the group energy needs gentle shaping. It keeps the trip calm and coherent, which is exactly what many solo travellers want.

Rooming, Comfort, and Personal Space

The general LHO policy describes twin sharing for most trips, normally pairing solo travellers with another participant of the same sex. If you want to share but we cannot find you a roommate, LHO covers the extra room cost. You will not be charged a single supplement because a roommate is unavailable. Some mountain huts use shared sleeping rooms that are not gender segregated. A single room can be requested on many trips, but may not be available on every night. Confirm arrangements for your departure, including any specific requirement, before booking.

QuestionWhat to check
Is sharing included?Check the published room basis for your departure. If you want to share but no roommate is available, LHO covers the extra room cost.
Can I request a single room?Availability, price and the nights covered; a request is not confirmation
Does the trip use huts or remote lodges?Shared rooms, bathrooms and limits on private accommodation
What if I have a particular rooming need?Tell the team before booking so the arrangement can be checked individually

Do not assume a single-room request for Kathmandu extends to EBC mountain teahouses. The Walker’s Haute Route includes two shared hut nights. Read the EBC accommodation guide or the Haute Route itinerary when those are on your shortlist.

Community Without Pressure

Community forms when people share effort and feel safe to be themselves. Some joiners are naturally social. Others are more reflective. Both belong.

We build community through small moments, not forced activities. Shared breakfasts. Trail conversations. Encouragement on hard sections. Laughing at the end of a long day. The connection becomes real because it is earned.
