LHO’s first Alpamayo expedition is confirmed for 2 to 15 August 2027. Meet the experienced team taking shape, directly managed by Rami alongside our IFMGA guides.
Alpamayo is confirmed for 2027. Life Happens Outdoors’ first Alpamayo expedition will take place from 2 to 15 August 2027, and the first team is coming together around some of the most experienced climbers in the LHO community.
This first edition will be directly managed by Rami Rasamny, alongside our Peru-based IFMGA-certified mountain guides. Together, we are assembling a six-climber team for a technical mountaineering expedition in Peru’s Cordillera Blanca.
A team with experience across the Alps, Himalayas and Andes
The LHO veterans already coming together bring experience that, across the team, includes Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, the Eiger, Ama Dablam, Chimborazo and Cotopaxi, and Aconcagua. These are different mountains with different demands, and that breadth of experience is an important part of the team taking shape.
The first Alpamayo edition marks a new chapter for a community whose climbing journeys already span mountaineering in the Alps, the high mountains of Nepal and the South American Andes. It is an opportunity for returning LHO climbers to take on a new objective together.
Rami’s direct involvement in the first edition
Rami will directly manage the expedition in collaboration with our IFMGA guides based in Peru. His involvement brings a familiar LHO presence to the first team, alongside the local guides’ knowledge of the mountains and the technical climbing ahead.
The mountain ahead
Alpamayo’s fluted snow and ice face is the defining objective of the expedition. The published 14-day itinerary begins in Huaraz, includes acclimatisation hikes and a preparatory climb on Yanapaccha, and continues through the Santa Cruz valley towards Alpamayo’s base camp and high camp.
The climb involves roped glacier travel, steep snow and ice, and an abseil descent. It calls for existing technical mountaineering experience. Weather, mountain conditions and the team’s acclimatisation will guide decisions on the mountain.
For a closer look at the habits behind efficient movement in the mountains, read How to Become an Efficient Mountaineer. Our guide to climbing Ama Dablam also explores one of the technical expedition environments represented in this team’s experience.
