Upon touching down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your journey to conquer Africa’s tallest peak begins with a warm welcome from a member of the LHO team. From airport pickup to hotel transfer in our private shuttle, your comfort and convenience are our top priorities. At the hotel, your LHO Team Leader awaits to greet you, ensuring a seamless check-in process.

If you arrive early, take the opportunity to explore the vibrant town of Moshi, nestled at the base of Kilimanjaro. Indulge in the local coffee culture at the Union Coffee Shop or explore other nearby attractions recommended by your LHO Team Leader.

On your first night, we gather for a team briefing and dinner, either at a trendy Moshi restaurant or at our hotel. This initial gathering sets the stage for the adventure ahead, allowing you to meet fellow participants and your lead local guides. It’s also the perfect opportunity to learn about the thrilling experience we’ve curated for you and address any queries you may have.

Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast and hotel checkout, we embark on our first day of trekking, heading to the Marangu gate via a private shuttle. Here, amidst lush rainforest surroundings, we complete check-in procedures for Kilimanjaro Park. A hot lunch awaits at the gate as we gear up for the hike ahead.

The trail winds through the enchanting rainforest, offering glimpses of wildlife and showcasing Kilimanjaro’s rich flora. With varying terrain, including steep inclines and milder ascents, our LHO team ensures a comfortable pace for all. By sunset, we arrive at Mandara Hut (2,734 m), our cozy abode for the night, where a hearty dinner awaits.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

As dawn breaks on our second day, we set out early, bidding farewell to the rainforest and ascending into the short grass vegetation zone. With individual health checks and a well-paced journey, we transition smoothly to the alpine landscape. Spectacular views of the summit crater and Mawenzi Peak unfold as we ascend to Horombo Hut (3,700 m). Here, amidst breathtaking vistas, we enjoy a mid-afternoon arrival and a leisurely evening.

Day 3: Acclimatisation Day to Mawenzi Hut

Day three is dedicated to acclimatization, a crucial step in our journey to the summit. After a relaxed breakfast, we ascend towards Mawenzi, Kilimanjaro’s second-highest crater. Passing by the striking Zebra rock, we trek to Mawenzi Hut (4,350 m), maximizing our acclimatization while reveling in awe-inspiring views. After lunch at Mawenzi Hut, we return to Horombo Hut for rest and recovery.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibu Hut

Continuing our ascent through moorland and alpine desert terrain, we encounter the Maua River and unique Dendrosenecio Kilimanjaro trees. The vast expanse of the Kibu crater draws nearer as we journey eastward to Kibu Hut (4,700 m), the summit base camp of Kilimanjaro. Amidst the rugged beauty of the saddle, a hot lunch awaits before we settle in for the night.

Day 5: Summit Day to Uhuru Peak, then Descend to Horombo Hut

The pinnacle of our adventure unfolds as we embark on the ultimate challenge: summiting Uhuru Peak. Starting before midnight, we navigate rocky terrain and steep inclines, reaching William’s Point before sunrise. The final push to Gilman’s Point offers exhilarating views and a sense of triumph. From Stella Point, a brief ascent leads to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), where panoramic vistas await. After summit photos and moments of reflection, we descend to Kibu for rest and lunch before continuing to Horombo Hut (3,720 m).

Day 6: Descent to Marangu Gate, Farewell Dinner

Our final morning on the mountain is bittersweet as we bid adieu to the majestic heights of Kilimanjaro. Descending through the rainforest, we arrive at Marangu Gate, where a farewell party awaits. Expressing gratitude to our dedicated team, we share memories and bid farewell before returning to the hotel for a well-deserved shower and rest.

Day 7: Departure Day

The journey culminates with airport transfers, ensuring a smooth transition back home. After breakfast at the hotel, team members are shuttled to Kilimanjaro International Airport based on flight times. Communication of accurate flight details is essential, ensuring seamless arrangements for departure. As we part ways, reflecting on the transformative journey shared, we carry with us memories of camaraderie, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of Kilimanjaro. Until we meet again, safe travels and may the memories of our ascent continue to inspire and uplift.
