Annapurna Base Camp Trek Cost: Plan the Whole Journey

Build a complete Annapurna Base Camp budget using the eight-day itinerary, current inclusions and your own flight, insurance and equipment quotes.

The cost of an Annapurna Base Camp trek is more than the price beside a departure date. To compare trips fairly, first check what the organised itinerary covers, then add your international travel, personal equipment, insurance and spending outside the package.

At our check on 28 September 2026, LHO’s published standard price for its eight-day Annapurna Base Camp journey was £1,875 per person in GBP, including all taxes shown for the departure. Check the current ABC dates and prices for your chosen date. This is a dated LHO example, not a general price range for every operator or an indication that prices will stay unchanged.

Start with the itinerary you are paying for

LHO’s published journey has eight organised days in Nepal, including five consecutive walking days, an overnight at Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 metres, four tea-house nights, two Kathmandu hotel nights and one Pokhara hotel night. International flights sit outside that eight-day programme.

If you see another “ABC trek” at a different price, compare the actual start and finish points, walking schedule, hotel nights and transport. A quote beginning in Pokhara is not directly comparable with one organised from Kathmandu. Use our ABC duration guide to understand how travel and walking days fit together.

What the published LHO price includes

People
LHO Team Leader coordination, certified local trekking guides, porters and LHO Base Camp support
Accommodation
Two Kathmandu hotel nights, one Pokhara hotel night and four tea-house nights
Food and water
Meals through the trekking itinerary, the listed welcome and celebration dinners, and safe drinking water on the trek
Transport
Airport transfers, scheduled Kathmandu–Pokhara flights and other transport in the itinerary; an included private-van substitution if weather prevents those scheduled flights
Trail arrangements
Required permits and certificates, a personal duffle allowance up to 12 kg and access to Jhinu Hot Springs
Preparation
Fitness and nutrition guides and gear-shopping support in Kathmandu

Read the full current inclusions and exclusions on the trip page before booking. In particular, “meals on the trek” should not be assumed to mean every personal meal before or after the itinerary.

What to add to your budget

International flights and baggage
Obtain a quote for travel that fits the agreed arrival and departure arrangements
Nepal entry costs
Check the requirements and fees applicable to your nationality and dates
Travel insurance
Obtain a quote for the actual route, altitude and any optional activities
Personal equipment
List what you already own, what needs testing and what remains to buy; confirm any rental availability and price
Tips
Ask for the current written recommendation and whether it is per traveller or per group; tips are discretionary and excluded
Tea-house extras and personal spending
Allow for optional services such as hot showers where available; local availability and charges vary
Optional activities in Pokhara
Request a written quote with inclusions and cancellation terms before selecting an activity
Extra nights or changed plans
Keep a reserve for expenses outside the agreed eight-day itinerary

Ask the team for current tipping guidance. An unanswered budget line is a question to resolve, not a cost to treat as zero.

Room sharing and optional single accommodation

The standard price uses shared rooms. Solo travellers are normally paired with another traveller of the same sex. The optional single-room upgrade covers the two Kathmandu nights and one Pokhara night, subject to availability. It does not cover the four mountain tea-house nights. Confirm the current price and arrangement when booking.

The worksheet is designed to use your quotes rather than a made-up “average” flight or insurance price. Use one currency for the total and allow for the conversion or transfer charges that apply to your payment method.

Understand what happens if plans change

The published private-van substitution for weather-affected Kathmandu–Pokhara flights is included. That specific arrangement does not mean all delays, extra hotel nights, early departures, medical costs or onward flight changes are included. Read the itinerary and terms, ask for the scope and price of optional changes in writing where practical, and discuss insurance questions with your insurer.

Use the Nepal trekking insurance checklist to prepare that conversation. Insurance cover depends on your policy; an operator’s support arrangements do not establish what an insurer will pay.

Compare value and fit together

A complete budget helps you make a confident decision. So does understanding the challenge: five walking days, repeated stone steps and an overnight at altitude. If you are comparing the two base camps, read ABC versus EBC: which trek is harder?.

When ABC feels like the journey you want to prepare for, explore the eight-day LHO trek. If any budget line is unclear, ask an Adventure Specialist before you reserve. Good preparation leaves more room to enjoy the people, landscape and challenge ahead.
