What this page shows

One network, route specific assignments

The people shown here form part of the wider LHO trekking network. A guide may work on one or more programmes, but inclusion on this page does not mean that every guide is assigned to every route.

Final assignments depend on qualifications, local permissions, route demands, language, group requirements and availability.

Professional scope

Walking routes, not technical alpinism

This page covers LHO walking and trekking programmes that do not normally require glacier travel or technical mountaineering skills.

Glacier journeys, via ferrata and mountaineering programmes sit outside this roster and use appropriately qualified professionals for those activities.

Qualifications and permissions

The right professional for each Alpine route

Many guides in the LHO trekking network hold the French Accompagnateur en Moyenne Montagne qualification or an equivalent international mountain walking qualification.

Professional titles and permissions differ between countries. LHO selects guides according to the route, jurisdiction and activity rather than assuming that one qualification has the same scope everywhere.

Guide assignment

How LHO selects your trekking guide

Guide assignments depend on the route, required professional scope, country, availability, language, group profile and current conditions. A specific named guide is confirmed in writing when assigned.

Booking an LHO trek does not guarantee a particular person unless that assignment has been confirmed.
