Itinerary

The southern tip of the world is all about big experiences. Whether it’s rafting down a wild Patagonia rapid, riding horses against the backdrop of volcanoes or trekking the 22 KM trail to the Torres Del Paines, this adventure combines challenge with comfort making it immersive and accessible for anyone who’d like to enjoy this once in a life time adventure.

DAY 1: ARRIVING TO SANTIAGO

Day 1 is arrival day. We’ll be picking you up from Santiago Airport and checking you in at the hotel situated in the downtown area. There’s lots to do an see in Chile’s vibrant capital so there’ll be plenty to do if you’re arriving early. At 7pm, we’ll have a team dinner and briefing so that we can all get to know each other and get all the details about the epic adventure ahead of us.

DAY 2: CHILOE ISLAND

We’ll be catching a morning flight to Porto Montt situated in the Northern Patagonian lakes & volcanoes District. From the airport, we’ll be heading straight to Chiloe Island, South America’s second largest island, for a traditional meal at the home of a local family. After an epic traditional meal we’ll head to the northern part of the islands for a boat tour around the local penguins colony. From there we head to Puerto Varas, our home for the last few days of the year. Dinner will be a picnic on the bus on the way to Puerto Varas and we’ll also received our briefing for the following day.

DAY 3: OSORNO VOLCANO

After breakfast, we’ll head around the Llanquihue Lake to the majestic Osorno volcano (2,660 meters) The drive takes around 1 hour and half and the scenery throughout the drive is stunning. The trail starts with a gradual include that goes around the North and East sides of the volcano. Once we reach the high point we’ll have spectacular views on the Andes Patagonico and the Lago Todos Los Santos. Lunch is at one of the most spectacular view points on the planet. From there we’ll head down to the lake for a swim before ending our day with a drive back to Puerto Varas. The dinner and briefing will take place at the hotel after we’ve had a chance to freshen up.

DAY 4: MULTI-ADVENTURE DAY

Our second full day in Patagonia will start in National Park Vicente Perez Rosales for our first activity of the day, horseback riding. We’ll be led by a local Gaucho through the rural paths and forests with the incredible Volcanos sitting on the horizon. From there we’ll head to the Petrohue River for some rafting. Lunch will be at the boat house before heading to the river. Rafting time is usually around 1.5 hours and is one of the highlights of the trip. Dinner will be provided in the bus on the way back to Puerto Varas.

DAY 5: ANDINO & CALBUCO TREKS

Depending on the conditions of the day, we’ll either be heading to the Calbuco volcano trek or the Alerce Andion trek. Both are comparable in terms of what we see and we select the trek based on where we’re more likely to have better weather and trail conditions. Regardless of where we go, we’ll have a full day trekking in the Patagonian wilderness, have the opportunity to see trees that are over 1000 years old and enjoy a picnic with an epic view. Depending on the time, we may also be able to visit the fish market at Puerto Montts where the Walruses wait outside for leftover fish! Dinner will be at the hotel in Puerto Varas.

DAY 6: THE END OF THE WORLD

The day begins with breakfast before our pick up to Puerto Montt airport to catch our flight south to Punta Arena. This will be the furthest south we go on this trip. From their we’ll catch our shuttle for the 3 hour journey across the wildest landscapes on the planet to Puerto Natales, our home for the rest of our time in Patagonia. Lunch will be on the road and dinner will be a special NYE event that we’ll keep as a surprise.

DAY 7: GREEN LAGOON TREK

The first day of the new year will kick off with one of the most spectacular trekking experiences on the planet. After breakfast, we’ll for the 1.5 hour drive to the Torres del Paine national park. Our trek for the day will start from Lazo Estancia, located in the eastern section of the park, near the Laguna Verde. The trail takes us through the valleys and canyons where animal sightings are common before reaching the Onda lagoon view point that gives us an unobstructed panorama of the entire park including the most famous vistas of the Paine mountain range. Lunch will be a picnic with a view and dinner will be at our hotel when we get back.

DAY 8: TREKKING BASE LAS TORRES

This is the most challenging and most rewarding day of our adventure. Trekking to the base of the Torres del Paine is a 20 KM undertaking with a vertical gain of 1200 meters. The good news is that there are lots of opportunities to rest or to skip if you’re not feeling it. But for those of us who are, the trail leads to the famous lakes that sit at the base of the pillars that form the Torres del Paine. Lunch will be on the trail and dinner will be a picnic in the bus on the way back so that we can take our full time on the trail with no rush.

DAY 9: PHOTOGRAPHIC OVERLAND & HIKING AT TORRES DEL PAINE

This is the day where we go deep into the wild to enjoy the vistas that Southern Patagaonia has to offer. After breakfast, we’ll head back to the Torres Del Paine National Park and be taken the best view points to just enjoy, meditate unwind and release without the pressures of a trail. We may do some short walks but only to reach areas that aren’t by the road side. Today is the day for selfies with a Guanaco, quite walks alone along the lake sides and epic opportunities to take once in a life time photos. We’ll have a picnic lunch in the park and a last dinner in Patagonia together when we return to Puerto Natales.

DAY 10: BACK TO SANTIAGO

We’ll have some leisure time for relaxing or a nice walk before we take our transfer from Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas airport. We’ll be travelling most of the day and we’ll end it with a farewell dinner in Santiago when we arrive.

DAY 11: CHAO!

Our last day together is dedicated to airport transfers. Breakfast is included on the day.
