Itinerary

DAY 1: WELCOME TO CHAMONIX

Our adventure begins with our arrival in Chamonix, the gateway to the Alps and our base for the first night. Transfers from Geneva Airport are arranged by us, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free start to the trip.
After check-in, we’ll have time to sort out any gear rentals with assistance from our LHO Team Leader, ensuring we have everything we need for the days ahead. In the evening, we’ll gather for a team dinner and trip briefing, hosted by our LHO Team Leader and experienced ice climbing guides. This will be our chance to meet the team, discuss the itinerary, and review essential safety information before we set off for Cogne.

DAY 2: TRANSFER TO COGNE & FIRST DAY ON THE ICE – LILLAZ WATERFALLS

After an early breakfast, we’ll embark on a scenic drive from Chamonix to Cogne. The route takes us through the Mont Blanc Tunnel, crossing into Italy and winding through picturesque alpine valleys. Along the way, we’ll pass charming mountain villages, snow-covered peaks, and stunning views that set the stage for the adventure ahead.
Upon arrival in Cogne, we’ll gear up and head straight to the Lillaz Waterfalls, an ideal location for our first day of climbing. The routes here offer a mix of accessible lines for beginners and more challenging routes for experienced climbers.
Our guides will focus on essential climbing techniques, including ice axe placement, footwork, and rope systems, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and confident on the ice.
After a rewarding day on the frozen walls, we’ll return to our accommodation in Cogne for a well-earned dinner and a recap of the day’s climbs.

DAY 3: FULL DAY ICE CLIMBING – LILLAZ GULLY

Today, we’ll return to the Lillaz Gully, a spectacular ice climbing area known for its longer and more varied routes. With guidance from our experienced instructors, we’ll focus on developing fundamental and advanced ice climbing skills throughout the day.
Some of the key techniques we’ll cover include ice axe and crampon placement for optimal grip and stability, efficient movement on vertical and overhanging ice, and proper rope management for multi-pitch climbing. Additionally, we’ll practice building and evaluating ice anchors, performing belay techniques, and gaining confidence with descending using abseiling methods.
For those newer to ice climbing, the focus will be on developing a solid foundation, while more advanced climbers will have the chance to refine their technique on steeper and more technical routes.
Lunch will be enjoyed mid-day in the alpine setting, and by late afternoon, we’ll return to our accommodation for some well-earned rest before gathering for dinner and a team debrief to discuss the day’s achievements and prepare for our final climbing day.

DAY 4: ICE CLIMBING – PATRI & RETURN TO CHAMONIX

After breakfast, we’ll head to Patri, one of the most iconic ice climbing routes in Cogne. Known for its breathtaking ice formations and technical climbing sections, Patri offers something for every skill level, from scenic climbs to more vertical challenges.
Our final day on the ice will be about consolidating everything we’ve learned—refining technique, building confidence, and fully enjoying the beauty of these frozen landscapes.
In the afternoon, we’ll pack up and transfer back to Chamonix. Once settled at our hotel, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner, celebrating our achievements and sharing highlights from our time on the ice.

DAY 5: FAREWELL & DEPARTURE FROM CHAMONIX

After breakfast, it’s time to pack up and prepare for departure. For those heading back to Geneva Airport, transfers will be arranged to ensure a smooth journey home.
If anyone is extending their stay in Chamonix or continuing their travels, our LHO Team Leader will be available to assist with any final logistics or recommendations.
As we say our goodbyes, we leave with the satisfaction of having conquered frozen walls, learned new skills, and shared an unforgettable adventure with a team of like-minded climbers. Safe travels, and until next time!
