LHO Veteran Guides are fully qualified professionals who have worked with the company over a sustained period. They lead programmes primarily in Chamonix and the Mont Blanc massif, with further work across the Vanoise, Écrins, Valais, Bernese Oberland, Aosta Valley, Dolomites and Piemonte.

Guiding experience with LHO
Fred has led multiple Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa climbs with LHO and has been responsible for a number of LHO Matterhorn courses. He also leads specialist advanced courses on routes graded D and TD, including objectives on the Innominata and routes on the Pyramide du Tacul.
These programmes draw on his experience in steep ice, mixed climbing, technical rock and committed high mountain terrain. Objectives are selected according to the client, current conditions and the guide’s assessment of the most suitable progression.

Experience and highlights
Fred, Benjamin Guigonnet and Hélias Millerioux completed a new route on the south face of Nuptse Nup II in 2017. The ascent received a Piolet d’Or in 2018.
In 2022, Fred and Benjamin Ribeyre completed the first full circuit of the geographical watershed of the Mer de Glace. Their nine day Ultra Traversée de la Mer de Glace linked sixteen summits above 4,000 metres around the massif.
