10 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Go Outdoors
There are so many articles out there that talk about the reasons everyone needs to go on an adventure – how it’s good for your mental health and why it will solve all your problems. I took it upon myself to talk about the reasons why we shouldn’t go on an adventure because, well, someone has to do it. For the sake of humanity, I volunteer to give you 10 solid reasons why you should not go on an adventure.
YOU DON’T GET TO DO HOUSE CHORES
It’s simple math really. As long as you’re out there, you’re not in here. This means you won’t get the chance to do everything that you love, such as cleaning the house, folding your clothes, making your bed, and so on.
YOU LOSE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEND 8 HOURS IN A CUBICLE
Everyone knows how passionate we all are about spending 8 hours, 5 days a week, in two by two thirst-colored cubicles. This is where we live out our passions, where we heal, and the most likely place we can achieve self actualization. By going on an adventure, you put all of this behind you.
EVERYONE IS HAPPY
If you’ve ever been on an adventure, you’ll find that almost everyone, depressed or not, is suddenly in a good place. They laugh, share jokes, and are generally pleasant human beings. If this doesn’t sound like a nightmare, I don’t know what is.
YOU’LL MAKE MORE FRIENDS
It’s not enough that we already know people in the city, but now we get to know people in the wilderness. It’s already a hassle sending out all your Merry Christmases and Eid Mubaraks, and now the list doubles in size.
YOU’LL GET TO TRY LOCAL FOODS YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE
In today’s world, experiencing something new is getting old. Why would you take a chance on what you don’t know over something that’s been tried and tested for decades?
YOU’LL TEST YOURSELF
This one is a no brainer. Why would anyone ever want to do that? Gone are the days of the IGCSE. The only test I’m doing is a Facebook quiz on what type of muffin I am.
YOU’LL CREATE LIFE-LONG BONDS
And you won’t get the 9% return on investment like you would if you create a life-long bond in a bank. Thank you, next.
YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF
This is a big problem because if I’m going to spend all of my time with the same person for the rest of my life, I’d rather we keep it casual.
YOU’LL RECONNECT WITH YOUR SPIRITUAL SIDE
This just adds to my task list. It’s not enough that I have to stay in touch with my friends and family, but now I have a whole other side to me that I didn’t know existed. No, thanks!
YOU’LL LEARN NEW SKILLS TO DEAL WITH ANXIETY
What anxiety? I have 6 cups of coffee a day that’s why I’m walking back and forth 800 times in my living room.
I sincerely hope the above reasons have deterred you from thinking about adventure. If you catch yourself day dreaming in the office about distant worlds, you can reach out to me directly and I’ll set you back on the right path.
Stay safe!
