Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVING TO ARUSHA

We’ll be received at the airport and transferred to the hotel by the LHO team leader. Early arrivals can explore the vibrant town of Arusha at the foot of Mt. Meru. A team briefing and dinner will be held for everyone on our first night together at a trendy Arusha restaurant. This will be the first opportunity for everyone to get to know the team leader and guides to hear the details about the days to come. Bag checks will be conducted upon returning to the hotel.

DAY 2: LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN

After breakfast, we’ll be aiming to depart from Arusha in the direction of the NgoroNgoro conservation area, the gateway to the Serengeti. We’ll be meeting our safari cars and ranger escorts at the hotel and then head out. Even before arriving at the entrance, it will be possible to start spotting big game including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and giraffe. We will be making a lunch stop in one of the largest gift shops in the area. There we can have some coffee, relax and do some shopping. The we make our way to Karatu, a city just before the famous NgoroNgoro. Dinner and stay will be at a hotel in Karatu.

DAY 3: THE NGORONGORO CRATER

This day will be one of the most exciting days as we enter the Ngorongroro conservation area. Starting with a small stop at the top of the rim to have a view of one of the largest craters that is home for a lot of wild life and big game animals. Lunch will be in the crater overlooking a lake where you will be able to see, hippos, flamingos and many more animals. After our game drive in Ngorongoro crater, we’ll be spending our evening will be spent at Ngorongoro where we will have dinner as well.

DAY 4: THE WORLD FAMOUS SERENGETI

After spending a nice chill morning, we’ll jump back into our safari cars and head out on a 2-hour game drive in the direction of the deep Serengeti filled with some of the largest concentration of wildlife anywhere in the world. After having lunch, we will be heading out once more to enjoy an afternoon game drive before returning to our accommodation for Dinner.

DAY 5: HOT AIR BALLOON

Easily the highlight of the safari is our flight in a hot air balloon at sunrise. Between the incredible natural formations and bird’s-eye view of all the animals scattered across the plains, it will be the fastest hour that’s ever gone by! There’s just so much to take in. After the epic experience, we will be having a picnic breakfast in the wild. We’ll jump back into our safari car heading in the direction of Lake Manyara for our last game drive together. This shallow lake is home to numerous bird and mammal species as well as over 180 butterfly species. On the way back towards Arusha, we’ll have the chance to stop and visit the Maasai Bomas (houses), learn about their culture, history and their way of life. Once in Arusha, our final night is spent at our hotel, where we will be hosting a farewell dinner upon arrival.

DAY 6: HAKUNA MATATA RAFIKI!

The final day is dedicated to airport transfers. Breakfast is included at our hotel. Team members will be shuttled to the airport depending on flight times. Please be sure to communicate the correct flight times when you fill out your Team Details Form prior to this experience. Please make sure to communicate any changes to your LHO Team Leader as early as possible to ensure that arrangements are made.

An adventure holiday for anyone with a pulse. No fitness requirements or prerequisites. Come as you are. Great for those who already train 1-2 times per week or would like to use this upcoming adventure as an opportunity to kickstart a fitness journey. Joiners should be comfortable with their physical fitness and regularly train at least 2-3 times a week in the lead up to this adventure. Need we explain further? No prior experience is required. Basic skills may be taught during this adventure. The skills necessary to safely complete this adventure will be taught as a part of this experience. This adventure requires prior experience, pre-requisite skills or certifications. See below for details. We aim to strike a balance between unique local experiences and international standards of comfort and hygiene. Hostels are dorm-style accommodation used during certain legs of our trips and expeditions. They can be quite trendy with common areas, restaurants and cafes. Expect rooms to include a bed and a mattress as well as a common dining area with chairs and tables. You’ll need to bring a sleeping bag and an optional pillow. When the experience includes camping we provide the tents, sleeping mats, common dining tents, camping chairs and camping tables. The only thing you’ll need to get is a sleeping bag and an optional camping pillow. Please refer to the LHO gear list for more information specific to the trip you’re on. Mountain Lodges are usually well equipped, providing beds with duvets and pillows. They also include a common restaurant area. Some lodges require a sleeping liner.
