Not every adventure requires previous experience. Many LHO trips are suitable for first timers who are willing to prepare, listen, train, and arrive with the right attitude. Each trip page explains the fitness level, skills profile, itinerary, accommodation, and support included.
For technical adventures, the required skills and experience are clearly stated. For beginner-friendly trips, the focus is on preparation, good guidance, and helping the recipient feel supported before they travel.
CLEAR & PRACTICAL
The recipient receives a unique gift card code by email.
They can enter the code at checkout when booking an eligible Life Happens Outdoors adventure.
They can also contact the LHO Base Camp team if they would like help choosing the right trip before booking.
If the cost of the adventure is higher than the gift card value,

Valid for 24 months from the date or purchase or scheduled delivery, whichever is later.
Eligible adventures
Eligible LHO adventures listed on the website — scheduled group adventures and approved private trips.
Deposits
Can be used towards the trip deposit.
Balances
Can be used towards the outstanding trip balance.
Promotions
Treated as a payment method, not a discount. Usable against published prices (including live Early Bird) but not combined with affiliate, referral, manual, private or corporate discounts unless approved by LHO.
Refunds & cash
Non-refundable once purchased and not redeemable for cash.
Transfers
Transferable before it is redeemed.
Expiry
Expires 24 months after purchase or scheduled delivery. Cannot be used to buy another gift card.
Corporate purchases
Handled by direct enquiry. LHO can invoice, create custom values, add a company message and provide branded PDF certificates. Not redeemable for cash by recipients.

It can be used toward eligible LHO adventures listed on our website, including trekking, mountaineering, climbing, and beginner-friendly trips, plus selected private and corporate experiences where applicable. Eligibility is shown on each trip page. If you're unsure whether a specific adventure qualifies, the Base Camp team can confirm before booking.
Does the recipient need outdoor experience?
Not for every trip. Many LHO adventures are suitable for first timers who are willing to prepare and train, while technical trips clearly state the skills and experience required. Each trip page sets out the fitness level and skills profile, so the recipient can choose an adventure that fits.
Can I choose the delivery date?
Yes. During purchase you can schedule the delivery date so the gift card email arrives exactly when you want it. That could be straight away, or on a birthday, anniversary, or another special occasion.
Can I add a personal message?
A custom amount makes it easy to give a larger, combined gift on behalf of a family, friend group, or team. If you'd like help coordinating a group contribution toward a bigger adventure, the Base Camp team can guide you.
Can companies buy LHO gift cards for employees?
Yes. Gift cards work well as employee recognition, team incentives, leadership and client gifts, and wellbeing rewards. For larger orders or custom corporate gifting, contact the Base Camp team and we'll help create the right option for your organisation.
Are gift cards refundable?
Gift cards are non-refundable once purchased, and they cannot be redeemed for cash. They are, however, transferable before they are redeemed, so they can be passed on to someone else. Full terms are set out in the Validity and Terms section above.
How long is the gift card valid?
Gift cards are valid for 24 months from the date of purchase or the scheduled delivery date, whichever is later. That gives the recipient plenty of time to choose the right adventure and the right dates. You'll find this set out in the Validity and Terms section above.
Can the gift card be used toward a deposit?
Yes. The gift card can be used toward the trip deposit and toward the outstanding balance on eligible LHO adventures. If the adventure costs more than the gift card, the recipient simply pays the difference at checkout.
Who can help the recipient choose the right adventure?
The LHO Base Camp team is on hand to help. They can talk through fitness, experience, timing, and goals, then recommend adventures that suit the recipient. They're happy to help at any point before booking, so no one has to decide alone.
